Brightpick launches Giraffe, a robot that picks packages from shelves up to six metres high
Warehouse automation keeps moving forward with the launch of Brightpick Giraffe, an autonomous robot for picking packages at height, able to reach shelves up to 6 metres high. According to Brightpick, the system aims to optimise storage density without changing the existing infrastructure.
Key features of Giraffe
Greater reach without structural changes
Giraffe reaches high shelves without forklifts or ladders, which removes workplace risks and speeds up package picking. Its telescopic system lets it manoeuvre in narrow aisles, adapting to any warehouse without altering its layout.
Full automation with Autopicker
Brightpick Giraffe works in sync with Autopicker, a robot designed to transport and sort products inside the warehouse. While Giraffe picks goods from the heights, Autopicker redistributes them efficiently, enabling continuous operation without human intervention.
Triples storage capacity
Brightpick says that Giraffe can triple storage density, making the most of every available cubic metre. This makes it an ideal solution for smart warehouses with high inventory turnover that want to maximise their capacity without major investment in automated infrastructure.
Dependence on a closed ecosystem: advantage or risk?
One of the main points to consider with Giraffe is its dependence on the Brightpick ecosystem. Although its integration with Autopicker allows an efficient automated flow, this also limits compatibility with other picking systems.
For companies that already have robots or automation systems from different suppliers, the lack of could be a long-term challenge, which may affect operational flexibility and the ability to adapt to new needs.
First deployments in 2025
The Feed: optimised e-commerce logistics
The e-commerce company The Feed has integrated 6 Giraffe robots and 73 Autopicker units in its distribution centre in Colorado. According to Brightpick, with this deployment they have achieved:
- A 60% increase in picking efficiency.
- A faster order processing speed.
- Better use of the available space without modifying the warehouse.
McGuff Company Inc.: precision in medical distribution
McGuff Company, which specialises in medical supplies, has deployed 4 Giraffe robots and 12 Autopickers in its California warehouse. According to Brightpick, this has made it possible to:
- Process up to 850 orders per hour with greater accuracy.
- Significantly reduce delivery times.
- Improve traceability and regulatory compliance in the handling of medical products.
