Waabi and Volvo Autonomous Solutions have agreed an alliance with a clear goal: to bring autonomous truck driving to scale. TechCrunch reported it on 4 February 2025.

A collaboration with great potential

The idea is to combine Volvo's experience in truck manufacturing with Waabi's autonomous driving system, based on and digital simulation.

You may not know Waabi, a company founded in 2021 by the Spanish scientist Raquel Urtasun. According to the company itself, its advantage is Waabi World, a simulator that makes it possible to train and validate autonomous systems with fewer physical tests.

Why is this alliance key to the future of logistics?

The autonomous freight sector is at a key moment, generating renewed interest in the industry.

For years the sector has suffered from a shortage of drivers that strains the supply chain, and companies are looking for alternatives.

Scaling the autonomous transport model

The combination of Volvo and Waabi aims to speed up the launch of autonomous fleets in different environments and road conditions.
