- Status
- Completed
- Programme
- Horizon 2020
- Dates
- From 1 November 2018 to 31 January 2022
- Location
- Surveys in Barcelona, Dublin, Warsaw and Paris; entities from 8 countries
- 16 organisations from 8 countries.
How we counted it
16 entities on , counting coordinator and participants, from 8 countries. Coordinated by Fundació Eurecat (Spain). The others include Edinburgh Napier University, Technological University Dublin, the University of Stirling, the city of Warsaw, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya and the Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia. - AEVAC acted as an external adviser to the project. It worked on the roadmap of the needs of a person with a disability when using a service in an , at every stage.
Description
DIAMOND used data to find out what women need as users and as transport workers, including in autonomous vehicles. It starts from a problem that CORDIS describes like this: current transport systems do not sufficiently take into account the physical and social characteristics of women. The project worked on four cases: rail and multimodal transport, vehicle control towards autonomous driving, shared vehicles, and social responsibility and employment. It was coordinated by Eurecat. It ended on 31 January 2022.
Goal
To turn data into useful, unbiased knowledge, to move towards more inclusive and efficient transport from a gender perspective.
Consortium results
- The project developed a toolbox to assess whether a transport service is inclusive, and tested and validated it with companies in the sector in Europe. Source: DIAMOND results on CORDIS
- The project published a white paper with actions for more inclusive transport and, separately, specific recommendations for autonomous cars. Source: DIAMOND results on CORDIS
- The project drafted guidelines for curricula and corporate social responsibility protocols to increase women's employment in the sector. Source: DIAMOND results on CORDIS
- The project collected data in more than 1,000 face-to-face surveys of transport users in Barcelona, Dublin, Warsaw and Paris. Source: DIAMOND results on CORDIS
- For autonomous vehicles, the project developed a driving simulator to better understand women's needs. Source: DIAMOND results on CORDIS
- General finding of the project: to keep using public transport, women need to feel safe at all times. Source: DIAMOND results on CORDIS
